The Power of a Tutu!!

So what’s with this pile of tutus you ask? Well, we all know just how fabulous a tutu can make one look, not to mention the magical powers possessed by a fluffy frock of tulle, laced with ornaments and ribbons, and this pile of tutus recently became a very large topic of conversation between my employer and me.

Event season is upon us, and I’ve been bugging my mom, (i.e. my employer) to ditch the day job for a long time now. This is the same job that she took last summer, in addition to the fun one that she has at the doggy boutique, so she could continue to pay for the events that we attend which allow us to spread awareness about canine cancer and raise funds to help find a cure. She’s been working six days a week, and this job of hers has had a tremendous impact on all that we do, not to mention it has taken away precious moments that she could be spending with Bear, Pirate and me. Then last week her boss told her that she needed to focus less on Wishcuit and more on the job! That her job was very important and that Wishcuit should be secondary! Well she, my mom that is, didn’t really like her boss’s attitude, and she said to me, “Zo, I gotta tell you, we need the income to get us to our events that we’re going to this year, and it’s a bit late to drum up sponsors…what are we going do? This is my heart and soul, and I can’t let it be secondary anymore.” Well let me tell you, I looked her square in the eyes, and with my most serious expression ever said, “Sorry, but I’m putting my paw down on this one!! That boss of yours is crazy, and there are definitely more ways to make this happen.” Then the wheels started turning! Need I remind you, it’s not just beauty that I possess, for I am a dog of super high intelligence, and when a fa*bull*ous idea runs through my head, I have a very difficult time controlling myself!ValentineZoey

So I cleared my throat…”ahem”… and said, “Hello, tutus…remember the tutus and all of the requests you get for them?”
I happen to believe that a tutu is a very powerful thing. Sure there are some people that say, “Oh you poor dog,” or “Oh how embarrassing.” But you know what, I love wearing my tutus and I’ve discovered the magical power behind every one that I wear. Don’t get me wrong, there are many people who say, “Oh what a pretty dog,” or “How cute”, but one thing’s for darn sure, MOST people are surprised, after all of the “Oh this”, and “Oh that’s”, when they find out that the sweet dog they’re petting and gushing over is a Pit Bull! Yep, tutus are magically, powerful, fluffy stuff!

So back to my thoughts. I continued to tell her what if tutus could help sponsor our way to spread awareness and positive pit bull love. How amazing would that be?! Look at how many people we have met because of my tutus. Look at how many people we have helped to change minds about pit bulls, simply because I wear tutus! Look at how many people who have stopped to talk to you about me, so that you could educate them about pit bulls, and tell them about Love Adds Up, and canine cancer!! Do I need to go on???” Geez, I’m tellin’ ya…sometimes I have to do all of the thinking for her!!! Anyways, of course she nodded her head, and asked where I was going with all of this. I was so excited that all I could do was start zooming around the house, so I’ll let her take it from here…

Zoey’s Tutu Tour and the Big Idea

FencePost1So here’s the Zoester’s idea…Wishcuit will be offering a limited number of tutus for sale each month beginning January 22, 2013. The Tutu of the Month will be designed around the season or holiday, beginning with February’s ‘My Furry Valentine’ tutu. (Seen at left, and modeled by Zoey) Proceeds from tutu sales will help us get where we need to go, while also raising awareness and providing funds to help find a cure.

All Tutu of the Month customers will essentially be sponsors, and become part of “Zoey’s Tutu Tour for a Cure” which begins in February. Our first event will be the Southern California Pet Expo in Long Beach on February 2, 2013 where we will be exhibiting as well as presenting as speakers! (We will be on stage following, Shorty Rossi, star of ‘Pit Boss’ on Animal Planet, after he welcomes everyone to the expo.) From there, we’re on to the Las Vegas Pet Expo, where we will once again be exhibiting and speaking before returning home to catch our breath. Then it’s production mode for March tutus before our March madness hits, which will take us to Arizona and Texas. (A full list of events will follow soon.)

There will be two options for the Tutu of the Month:

Tutu Only: $20, plus shipping and handling
Tutu Plus: $25, plus shipping and handling
(Tutu Plus includes: Tutu of the Month, Love Adds Up magnet, and a 1-oz. pkg. of Wishcuit, All Natural Peanut Butter Treats)
These tutus even look great on boy dogs, and will make great Valentine’s gifts too!!!

And that’s not all. We want to see your pet in their tutu, so send your photos in throughout Zoey’s Tutu Tour because we’ll also be including them in a special project at the end of the year. Can’t really divulge what it is yet though…it’s top secret!!

We’ve got lots of great events scheduled, and thousands of people to educate. We’re excited to meet up with many of our friends, old and new, and our social media friends too. We hope that you’ll support us in our efforts to Stick It To Canine Cancer…
