Bless you and Cain and all of his "siblings" who were left behind to wonder why the world feels so empty right now. For those of us fortunate enough to open our hearts to our animal companions, each day is a new journey of discovery and each evening a quiet communion, never worrying about being alone and isolated. The price exacted for this glorious gift seems to be that our friends are taken from us when we are only partly through with our own journey. Probably because they are called home to rest after coming to be our teachers. And they will be waiting for us on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge when our new journey of discovery begins.
